HEIC to JPG
Turn iPhone photos saved as HEIC into JPEGs that open everywhere. Your browser decodes each photo and saves it as a JPEG on your own device: nothing is uploaded. Safari 17 or later opens HEIC, on a Mac, iPhone or iPad; Chrome, Edge and Firefox cannot yet, and there the page says so and what to do instead.

Questions
Which browsers can convert HEIC?
Safari 17 and later, on a Mac, iPhone or iPad, open HEIC photos themselves, and this page uses that. Chrome, Edge and Firefox cannot open HEIC: there the page says so as soon as it tries, and nothing is converted. No decoder is downloaded from anywhere.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Each photo is read and converted by your browser on your device, and the JPEGs are made there too.
Is the photo the right way up?
Yes. A HEIC file records how its photo is turned, and the JPEG is saved upright, as the photo was taken.
What happens to the location and camera details?
A JPEG this page converts from a HEIC photo holds the picture alone: the photo's GPS location, camera details and date are not copied into it. A JPEG your iPhone or iPad already made, picked from Photos and offered here as it is, holds whatever details the phone put in it: to share it cleared of them, use Remove EXIF and metadata first.
What if a file holds several pictures?
A HEIC file can hold more than one picture, a burst for example: the page says how many, and the main picture is converted. A HEIC animation or sequence is refused with a message. A Live Photo's moving part is a separate video file and is not converted.
What are the limits?
Photos up to 16,384 pixels on a side, which covers every iPhone camera. A damaged file, or one that is not a HEIC photo despite its name, is refused with the reason, and the other photos of a batch still convert.
Can my iPhone save JPEG in the first place?
Yes: Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible makes the camera save new photos as JPEG. And Settings > Photos > Transfer to Mac or PC > Automatic converts photos to JPEG as they are copied to a computer with a cable.
Why does a photo from my iPhone arrive as a JPEG?
When a photo is picked from Photos, the iPhone or iPad converts it to JPEG as it hands it to the page, whatever the page asks for. This page then offers that JPEG as it is, with its Download: there is nothing more to convert. To convert the HEIC photo itself, pick it from Files (Browse), or share it to Files first and pick it there.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The page loads a small script into your browser and every operation runs on your device. You can check this yourself in the browser's network panel: after the page has loaded there are no upload requests. Closing the tab discards the file.
Do I need an account or to pay?
No. These basic tools are free and store nothing on our servers. The only limits are the tool's own: photos up to 16384 pixels on a side. Within them, the practical limit is your device's memory.
What does this page keep in my browser?
Nothing you open or type. While the tab is open, the tool pages keep a short list of the steps taken in it, in the tab's session storage: the step (page opened, started, succeeded, first success, used again or failed), the tool's name, the time, how many files were used and, for a failure, an error code; never a file name, the contents of a file or your text. It holds at most the latest 200 steps, and the browser deletes it when the tab closes. The page never sends it. Where a Report a problem button is shown, you can attach the last 20 steps to your report; nothing is attached unless you tick that box. In local storage the page keeps only choices you made: a Light or Dark theme until you choose System again, the language you picked with the EN / 中文 switch if it differs from your browser's language, and this tool in your recently used list if you switched that list on at the tools page.
