Make a resume and download it as PDF
Fill in your details, jobs, education and skills, and watch the finished PDF update beside the form. The PDF has real, selectable text in one clear column or two, clickable links, its fonts embedded and no watermark, and it is made on your device, so your personal details are never uploaded.

Questions
Is there a watermark or a limit on downloads?
No watermark, no sign-up and no limit on downloads. The PDF's title is your name, followed by your headline when you give one, and its author is your name. Nothing else is written in it: no tool name and no dates, so the same details and layout always give the same file.
Which languages and characters can I use?
Latin text, the accented letters of Central European languages and Vietnamese included, and Greek and Cyrillic are drawn in Liberation Sans or Liberation Serif; Chinese, Japanese and Korean in Noto Sans CJK. Both are embedded in the PDF as subsets, so the text stays selectable and looks the same in every viewer. Right-to-left text such as Hebrew and Arabic, emoji and any other character these fonts lack are named before export instead of being dropped. The fonts are loaded from this site the first time a preview is made; once loaded, they can be reused in this tab offline.
Will applicant tracking systems read it?
Choose Classic for them: applicant tracking systems read one column best. Its real text is drawn in reading order, so it can be selected, copied and searched, and it copies in the order you see it. Two columns put your contact details, Skills, Languages and Certificates in a narrow side column; the PDF holds each column whole and in order, and a program that reads the file in its own order reads it so, but one that works out the order from where the text sits on the page may mix the two columns. Links to your e-mail address and web pages are clickable. No tool can promise how a particular employer's software will rank a resume, and this page does not claim to.
How do bullet points, bold skill names and dates work?
In the job, education and extra sections, each line becomes its own line in the PDF; start a line with - to make it a bullet point. In Skills, a line such as Tools: Excel, SQL prints the word before the colon in bold, and Skills on the resume sets them one per line or side by side, as many on a line as fit, in the order you typed them; a skill longer than a line wraps, never cut. Dates are a month and a year, shown as Mar 2021, 03/2021 or 2021-03; tick I work here now for an ongoing role, and change the word Present if you write in another language. An end date before its start date is pointed out, but it does not block the PDF.
How are the pages laid out?
On A4 or US Letter, in one of two layouts. Classic is one column, with your name and contact line at the top. Two columns keep your name and headline across the top and put your contact details, Skills, and the sections headed Languages or Certificates in a narrow column on the right, beside the rest; each of your extra sections has a box that puts it there or takes it out. In both, a section heading always stays with its first entry, and a job's title stays with its first line, so it never stands alone at the foot of a page; a bullet point stays on one page unless it is longer than a page, or comes first under a heading or a job's title and the two together are: then it continues on the next. A page is begun only for text that goes on it, so no page is blank, and a resume that fills one page stays on one. When the resume runs to more than one page, each page gets your name and the page number at the bottom.
How do I keep my details for next time?
The form is not stored in the browser: reloading or closing the tab empties it. Save as JSON Resume downloads your details in the open JSON Resume format from jsonresume.org, and Open a JSON Resume brings them back exactly as you left them (the words the builder writes itself, such as the default headings and the word Present, follow the page's EN / 中文 switch until you change them). Files from other JSON Resume tools open too: basics, work, education and skills fill the form, and projects, certificates, awards, languages, volunteering, publications and interests become extra sections. References are left out.
Why no photo or date of birth?
Many employers ask not to receive photos or dates of birth, and they are not needed, so this builder offers neither.
Are there limits?
Up to 30 jobs, 30 education entries and 8 extra sections. Single-line fields such as names, titles and links take up to 150 characters; each text box (profile, what you did, skills, extra sections) up to 5,000. Everything is laid out in your browser as you type.
How are the fonts loaded?
Every font is embedded in the PDF as a subset of the letters it prints, so no viewer substitutes its own. Latin text uses Liberation Sans or Liberation Serif, the metric twins of Helvetica and Times, under the SIL Open Font License; their regular and bold faces, about 0.8 MB, load from this site the first time a preview is made. Text needing Chinese, Japanese or Korean also loads a Noto Sans CJK font from this site, on demand. Common Chinese (the 7,445 characters of GB2312, its 6,763 Chinese characters and 682 symbols such as ①, ℃ and →, with Chinese punctuation and full-width forms) needs only the common-Chinese font, 2.3 MB once; any other Chinese, Japanese or Korean character loads the full font instead, about 22 MB once. No document text is uploaded. Unsupported characters are reported. Load the fonts your text needs before disconnecting if you need to work offline.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The page loads a small script into your browser and every calculation runs on your device. You can check this yourself in the browser's network panel: after the page has loaded there are no upload requests. Language fonts may be downloaded from this site when needed. Closing the tab discards what you entered.
Do I need an account or to pay?
No. These basic tools are free and store nothing on our servers. The only limits are the tool's own: 30 jobs, 30 education entries and 8 extra sections; 150 characters in a single-line field and 5,000 in a text box.
What does this page keep in my browser?
Nothing you open or type. While the tab is open, the tool pages keep a short list of the steps taken in it, in the tab's session storage: the step (page opened, started, succeeded, first success, used again or failed), the tool's name, the time, how many files were used and, for a failure, an error code; never a file name, the contents of a file or your text. It holds at most the latest 200 steps, and the browser deletes it when the tab closes. The page never sends it. Where a Report a problem button is shown, you can attach the last 20 steps to your report; nothing is attached unless you tick that box. In local storage the page keeps only choices you made: a Light or Dark theme until you choose System again, the language you picked with the EN / 中文 switch if it differs from your browser's language, and this tool in your recently used list if you switched that list on at the tools page.
